ABOUT

I am a highly creative and versatile individual with experience directing film shoots and leading post production for immersive VR content whilst overseeing a production team along the way. I help take productions from their initial conceptual stages through to post-production, liaising with clients to ensure they get the best product.

My skill set involves production direction on location, and post-production, working mainly in Adobe CC (Premiere, After Effects, Audition), Avid Media Composer, Mocha VR, Mistika VR and also in Element 3D.

Having worked in VR film production, television production at Nutopia and EndemolShine, and traditional video production for online platforms, many of my current skills are transferable to the medium.

Some of my past work includes working in television development, grading and creating motion graphics on sizzle trailers for US based TV shows in development, providing full post-production for the British Film Editor Awards 2021 and 2022 including motion graphics and titles sequences, directing and cutting advertisements for Nike, providing post-production on projects for the BBC, with one winning a BBC Digital Innovation Silver Award, and cutting trailers for award winning games and independent films.

These are three of my favourite VR film projects in both Documentary and Drama, two of which I directed and cut, and one in which I took the role of DP and Editor (Five Women: One Story). All were captured utilising 180° 3D camera technology in 8K. With Virtual Reality and the Metaverse coming to prominence and becoming a bigger part of our digital domain, I've always found VR filmmaking to be a fascinating tool to transport viewers into the world you are trying to create whether that's real or fictional.

I can't stress enough how different it is to watch VR films in a headset versus on a flat screen. In a headset you become part of the world around you for those few minutes being in the experience. Characters interact with you, or you get to be an invisible third person in the virtual yet seemingly physical surroundings that are presented in front of you. Put quite simply; you are reliving history, almost feeling the ability to stand up and walk into the scene.

I am always willing to show people my work in a headset as it is supposed to be seen. So I am more than happy to bring one along to an interview so you can really experience the true power of VR filmmaking!

TRADITIONAL SHORTFORM & LONGFORM

Below you will find a few examples of my favourite short form and long form projects from commercial through

to full-length programming. For me, ultimately the key to creating interesting and captivating narratives is to feel each and every cut that is made in an emotional manner and to find purpose in that decision. It's strange sometimes just knowing when something feels right and to follow through with it.

I am always striving to produce pieces with a strong sense of visual style, and as a result, another string to my bow are excellent skills in motion-graphics design and some generalist compositing on the side. Having directing experience has also really helped me to understand and take an initial vision, knowing exactly what is required creatively to deliver a compelling edit and overall project. I believe VR film production has also provided me with a fresh perspective into the world of character building and breaking the fourth wall. It's a different editing style but ultimately being able to evoke the correct emotional response and leave a lasting impression is what is important to me.
